Not-for-profit organisations such as various 'public' services, museums, educational institutions and other previously generally government-funded bodies are facing increasing funding challenges. Traditional government and institutional sources have been cut, are drying up or are competitively won rather than simply given. Aside from having to develop more efficient and effective management practices, these organisations are also faced with the need to actively generate new sources of revenue and even more crucially, generate net revenue over and above the investment needed to generate it.
